Breakfast Briefing: Carpentaria, Hillgrove & Investigator

Carpentaria Exploration, Hillgrove Resources and Investigator Resources detailed the different aspects of upcoming projects at the Adelaide Convention Centre on August 29.


Quentin Hill, newly appointed Managing Director of Carpentaria Exploration, discussed the company’s Hawsons Iron Project JV located 60km from Broken Hill, owned 60% by the company and 40% by Hong Kong-based Pure Metals. He spoke about the aim to produce between 10 to 20 Mega tonnes of magnetite per year in an open pit, to be shipped through the port in Port Pirie. He detailed the project’s next steps to lodge a Mining Lease and complete the Environmental Impact Statement by 2014.

Greg Hall, Managing Director of Hillgrove Resources, detailed the rare move to self-mining and mutual termination of Kanmantoo’s mining services company and how it has benefited the company and community. Mr Hall spoke about the effective hedging arrangement, describing it as “prudent arrangement” that is well suited to “a single mine company”. He also discussed the potential for the mine to commence underground mining at a later stage.

John Anderson, Managing Director of Investigator Resources, discussed the Paris silver project in the resurging copper-gold-silver belt of the Gawler Craton. Mr Anderson spoke about the three major stages of exploration used across the Gawler Craton, including magnetics, calcrete geochemistry and the modern day success of using gravity surveys, leading to the discovery of the Paris silver project on the Eyre Peninsula. Mr Anderson also spoke about the Peterlumbo porphyry copper gold target found in the Paris project which the company is also looking to develop.
